Time management doesnโt mean doing more work โ it means focusing on the most important tasks and allocating timeframes to complete these tasks.
Below are my top time management tips for business owners.
Plan on Mondays
On Mondays, write down the tasks that need to be completed by the end of the week and then allocate each task to a particular day. Youโll be pleasantly surprised at how many more goals you can achieve on a weekly basis simply by taking 20 minutes to plan.
Develop a sense of urgency
Get straight into the task at hand. Too many people spend days writing something that could be written in two hours. Delaying projects by holding meeting after meeting does not get the job done either.
Focus in time blocks
Planning in blocks allows for better time management. Instead of allocating the whole afternoon for a task, try allocating a period of time, say 1.30pm โ 3.30pm. Once the time is up, move on to the next task. This prevents your work from dragging on and eating into time reserved for other activities.
Incorporate buffer time
Remember to leave a 5 to 10 minute break between tasks. This helps you wrap up the previous task before starting the next one.
Exude passion
There is nothing people respect more in life than someone who speaks passionately on a subject. Be passionate about your products and services. If youโre not passionate about what youโre doing, tasks could take longer to complete. If youโve lost the passion maybe you need to revaluate your circumstances or take some time out.
By applying a few of the tips listed above, youโll increase your productive work hours and feel less overwhelmed and stressed in the process.
