Google+ explained in plain English

Google+ is the talk of the town. Itโ€™s been spruiked as the latest and greatest, ready to quash Facebook and Twitter in one fell swoop. If you would like Google+ explained in plain English, read on.

Itโ€™s hard, however, to understand exactly what itโ€™s about with the avalanche of Google+ articles and posts, many with conflicting views.

Rather than add my fledgling thoughts to the throng, I thought Iโ€™d shortlist two of the best posts Iโ€™ve found which explain Google+.

Google+ Project: Itโ€™s social, itโ€™s bold, itโ€™s fun, and it looks good – now for the hard part

This is the most detailed of the three posts, with links to the most popular videos at the end of the post. I really like it because it chats about both the highlights and the lowlights of the platform, giving us a more rounded view.

The videos are great because they give you a super-quick snapshot of individual functionality, so theyโ€™re fab if youโ€™ve not much time.

What resonated most with me about this post is this line:

โ€œTodayโ€™s web is about people. To organize the worldโ€™s data, you have to understand people.โ€

Amen.

Understanding the tool is a great start. But what does Google+ mean for the future? How can we use it to improve our businesses?

Be prepared to contemplate.
