A budget-friendly way to #spendsmall & support your local small business

Has anyone asked you how they can best support your small business right now? I loved this recent Instagram post from Sydney journalist Alexandra Carlton. She shares a simple and super effective approach to supporting her own small business community, while sheโ€™s on a budget.

At times like these it can be easy to think we have to hoard our resources, but as Alex so simply puts it, even a one or two purchase a week can make a difference when you spend mindfully.

This is my local cafe, @matineecoffee. Like almost every small business in the country they desperately need our support. Iโ€™ve challenged myself to #spendsmall every week with businesses like this one (they make it easy with their perfect vegan toastie & ace selection of take-home wines). Iโ€™ve set myself a budget I can afford (itโ€™s only tiny but itโ€™s something) and vowed to spend it at small businesses – local and online – each week. It might be a cafe coffee instead of my homemade one, or a hand wash from a small scale maker instead of one from the supermarket. Itโ€™s not much but itโ€™s about all we can do right now. Power to the little guys ✊

Thereโ€™s never been a better time to remind friends, family and your local community how they can support you.

Pass it on!
