Selling on Social Media: The unsung path to six-figure success

social selling

Social media, as we know, is a gold mine for marketing; an arena where influencers yield enormous gains. The sector has boomed from $1.7 billion in 2016 to an astounding $16.4 billion by 2022. Nonetheless, influencers aren’t the sole beneficiaries of this lucrative medium, explainsย  confidence coach Erika Cramer.

In 2018, my husband and I were grappling with a debt of $150,000 while I simultaneously embarked on the journey to establish my coaching enterprise.

My strategy was to leverage social media by initiating a podcast a YouTube channel, and regularly appearing on Instagram. In less than a year, our business flourished to $160,000. Following this, we rolled out a group coaching program, ending the year with an incredible $554,000 in earnings, all without an expansive follower count, website, sales funnels, or email lists.

Here’s my methodology for building a thriving business on social media, all without being an influencer.

Position yourself where your clients are

Ascertain the platform where your ideal clientele resides. It’s not about your preference, but where your clients engage most. Facebook is seeing a surge in users above 65, Instagram attracts a demographic between 25-40 years, while TikTok appeals to a younger crowd aged 16-34. LinkedIn remains a universal hub for professionals of all ages.

Refine your message

Clarity in your message is critical. Define your niche – what problem are you solving, and for whom? In the clamorous sea of social media, ambiguity will get you lost. Highlight your clients’ needs and present solutions to their concerns, building credibility and trust in your brand. Remember, quality over quantity.

Regularly engage with your followers

Sharing personal anecdotes, likes, dislikes, and day-to-day experiences cultivates trust. Contrary to popular belief, letting your audience get to know you encourages engagement and fosters a sense of community. Your audience needs to ‘know, like, and trust’ you. So, dispel your fears and engage with your audience live.

Deliver value ahead of time

Content creation is paramount, addressing your clients’ issues and establishing you as an expert in your field. Deliver value that resonates with your audience’s problems and showcases your offerings as solutions. Free value that impacts the lives of your followers will almost guarantee they will invest in your services. Engage in regular Q&A sessions, share insights into your operations, and reveal your content creation process.

Sell through social media

Engagement leads to direct conversations with prospective clients, opening the gateway to offering your product or service. Balance providing value with leading the client to the sale, sidestepping the โ€˜friend zone.โ€™ This ‘audition’ process establishes you as a specialist keen on resolving their issues. Convert these engagements into bookings or additions to your email list. This technique was instrumentalย  for us in securing over $500,000 in sales from Instagram alone.

Leveraging social media as a tool for business growth is more than a trend. It’s a proven path to building a profitable enterprise, establishing authority, and fostering trust with your audience. With the right tactics, you can scale your venture to six figures and beyond without the influencer tag.
