City of Sydney wants to know what small business need โ€“ take the survey now to have your say!

small business survey

The operational needs and priorities of businesses across Sydney are being put under the microscope through a business needs survey that will help shape future support initiatives.

The City of Sydney and Business Sydney is inviting businesses across the area to take part in the survey and share key insights on their needs, priorities and operational challenges.

Feedback from the survey will enable the City of Sydney to develop support programs according to current and future needs of local businesses, and advocate for government support as needed.

ย โ€œOver the past couple of years, we have experienced unprecedented change in our business landscape,โ€ Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

โ€œThe results of the Cityโ€™s last two surveys helped drive a series of responses including the al fresco city program, CBD activation grants, the CBD revitalisation campaign, outdoor dining initiatives and free capacity-building programs like Reboot and the Charge Up Challenge.

โ€œThe Lord Mayor said the services have helped Sydney businesses survive and thrive as they continue to be challenged by the pandemic.

โ€œIโ€™d urge all businesses to take part in the survey, so we can better understand their needs, economic trends and priorities so we can continue to help their business grow and prosper.โ€

Paul Nicolaou, executive director of Business Sydney, encouraged businesses from all sectors to take part in the survey, from retailers, creative businesses and tourism operators to hospitality owners and businesses working in professional services and technology.

โ€œIn order to devise and tailor support programs and other business-benefitting initiatives and measures, we need to get an accurate take on what itโ€™s like on the ground for those on the frontline of the cityโ€™s business community and I urge everyone to complete this survey,โ€ Paul said.

โ€œThe feedback from this survey will inform a variety of stakeholders with an up-to-date snapshot of what businesses large and small need most from the likes of council and other government partners and agencies, to best assist the stalled economic recovery of our city.

โ€œThe more businesses we hear from and the more accurate the information provided, the better-informed council and everyone will be in order to best target support to the businesses most affected by the problems resulting from COVID.โ€

Feedback from the survey will be used to monitor trends such as business confidence, the need for capacity-building initiatives, flexible working, diversity and inclusion practices, resilience and preparedness, sustainability practices, and more. The survey will continue to be held annually to provide data year on year to monitor trends across the city for at least the next five years.
