5 ways to use visualisation and manifestation to lead your team to success

Youโ€™d be forgiven for thinking that visualisation and manifestation belong in the world of yoga, pilates and wellness retreats, but increasingly weโ€™re seeing a place for them in the offices of some of the country’s most successful businesses, writes Delicious Dreams founder, Zhanna Gee.

More and more often at work, our days are dominated by digital and computer-led activity allowing us to work faster, be more productive and have access to more information. With this in mind, sometimes itโ€™s useful to incorporate nostalgic practices to bring variety to our days and increase our flexibility to adapt to different situations.

Practices like vision boarding, reciting affirmations, goal-setting and journalling are quickly becoming popular team-building activities to foster positivity, enthusiasm and a drive to succeed at work.

Why? Because itโ€™s a collaborative and creative way for teams to communicate and share their goals in their current role and for their entire career, giving their colleagues and managers greater insight into where they want to be at work, without needing to enter into the formality and pressure of a review.

How visualisation helps to align on business goals

Just as weโ€™ve seen a rise in nostalgic activities and practices – film photography, journalling, and vinyl records outselling CDs in 2022 for the first time since 1987 – weโ€™re now seeing physical vision and mood boards on the rise as people diversify from digital creative spaces like Pinterest and Canva, in favour of something tangible that they can hang on their wall.

Jessica Sepel of JSHealth is a firm believer in manifestation, visualisation and vision boarding, both professionally and personally.

“I have been using visualisation and manifestation for years now, so with my growing team of creatives and professionals at JSHealth, it has become a focus for me to introduce it to my team and incorporate it into our work. Visualising, goal-setting and manifesting together has been really helpful for us to align on our business goals as a group.โ€

5 ways to incorporate manifestation and visualisation methods into your work life

1. Vision boarding

Vision boarding is like mind mapping for the future, using pictures and affirmations to create a physical visual of the goals you want to achieve and things or experiences you want to manifest into your reality.

Vision boarding with your team at work can be a great thing to do as a group, creating a shared vision board for team projects, or individually to get to know your colleagues better as a team-building exercise.

2. Writing and repeating affirmations

Affirmations are a fantastic way to instil unity and positivity amongst your team to achieve a shared goal.

Creating affirmations around your short and long term goals for your team to repeat every morning when they start work, ensures that theyโ€™re starting the day with confidence, purpose and the intention to achieve a mutual goal.

3. Decorate your work space with affirmations and mantras

We typically see motivational words and phrases adorning the walls of the places we exercise and often the places we shop – so why donโ€™t we use them at work?

Adorning your workspace with positive and useful affirmations and mantras that relate to company values and goals is a wonderful way to ensure your team are sharing success, and are reminded of the end goal each day.

4. Goal-setting

This may seem like an obvious one for work, but itโ€™s surprising how few companies do it. While KPIs and performance metrics can be important for individual and team growth, goal-setting in a more informal setting can help to minimise fear or apprehension, while giving team members a greater sense of involvement in the growth, success and overall performance of the company.

Whether setting goals with your entire team or with individuals, itโ€™s a great way to measure and record milestones.

5. Manifestation board

A manifestation board is a place to record your successes and wins as a team. Whenever someone succeeds in manifesting something big or small, it is added to the board and celebrated!

This gives a sense of continued achievement to the team, as well as a place for you and your team to recognise how far youโ€™ve come, and how close you can be to reaching your next goal.
